FAMOUS ARTISTPaola Staccioli

Delicacy, femininity and culture in her works..
Born in Florence in 1972, after graduating in humanities in 1999 with a thesis on Dickens, Paola Staccioli trained in the art profession by attending her father Paolo’s workshop, quickly finding ceramics as her medium of choice, right from the start of her creative journey. Her ongoing research and propensity for experimentation have led Paola Staccioli, over the years, to perfect her lustre technique. In the flash of fire-forged glazes, her works take shape, each time renewing her passion for creating a narrative, mastering form and color with the spontaneous and carefree harmony of someone who sings the wonder of the beauty of a domestic, everyday universe, a microcosm devoid of artifice where earth, fire, and color harmonize with the revelation of light.
Thus are born vases, bowls, teapots, and sculptures imbued with spirals of plants and natural elements, symbolizing inexhaustible expressive possibilities, translating into iridescent and mobile matter. It is nature, with its inexhaustible variety of floral carpets combined with oriental motifs, that inspires Paola, in each creation, to rediscover a new approach to beauty: the vibrant colors of the lustre-enhanced backgrounds are thus inundated with floral motifs, forming precious mosaics whose motifs are freely arranged and come together, in each creation, with surprising and joyful creative spontaneity.
Following the first important exhibition at the Porcelain Museum of Palazzo Pitti in Florence in 2010, entitled “Animated Ceramics”, among the main personal and collective exhibitions, we remember Paola Staccioli’s participation in important international events such as the Oldenburg Ceramic Festival, Germany (2011 and 2012), the receipt of the Antica Arte dei Vasai Award by the Nobile contrada del Nicchio of Siena, together with her father Paolo Staccioli (2012), the personal exhibition at the Benozzo Gozzoli Museum in Castelfiorentino (“Concreta 2013”), the exhibition at the Officina Profumo Santa Maria Novella (2014), the exhibition “Paola and Paolo Staccioli. Passaggi” at the Auditorium Centro Rogers, Scandicci (2017), the personal exhibition “Anthologies” at the headquarters of the Regional Council of Tuscany, in 2018, the collective exhibition “Seduction, Beauty and Contemporaneity. The Craft of Arts”, at the National Museum of Ravenna, the virtual exhibition “Ceramic Tales” organized by the Sino-Italian Design Center, in 2020.
