FAMOUS ARTISTPaolo Staccioli

About Warriors, Travelers, Horses and Lovers.
The art of colors in ceramics. Unique and exciting textures in his sculptures balanced between classicism and modernism
Paolo Staccioli, Scandicci, Florence 1943, began his career as a painter in the 70s and later he is interested in ceramics in the 90s, when he decided to open his own workshop and explore different approaches to fire enamelling and copper oxides.
His compositions are dominated by the accumulation and variation of themes in which warriors, travelers and horses are recurring characters. The elongated figures are reduced to the essential and seem fixed in a timeless dimension in which they appear motionless.
“They are male and female figures charged with an arcane charm: sometimes without arms, often the legs truncate … to evoke the fragment “(O.Casazza), essential figures but rich in sensual presences and Renaissance chromatic decorations.
Paolo Staccioli has also dedicated himself in recent years to the creation of bronze sculptures, of which one of his permanent works is on display in Cana, in the Piazza del Castello: ‘The Warrior of Cana, a beautiful bronze of a warrior with a shield in bas-relief with horses. He has won an enormous amount of praise and recognition from both critics and the general public, especially in the last ten years. He has participated in numerous exhibitions and has received numerous awards in the field of contemporary art. His artworks are in the permanent collection of the Gallery ‘Le Nozze di Cana’.

In 2025 Volterra, an Etruscan little town in the hearth of Tuscany, hosted an unique and diffuse exhibition of Staccioli’s work, including outdoor bronzes and two entire palaces, the Pinacoteca and Guarnacci museum, invaded by ceramic sculptures.
