FAMOUS ARTISTStefano Pilato

Re-cycled and Upcycling Art
Stefano Pilato uses waste materials found along beaches and in landfills and transforms them into works of art: his fishes..
Stefano Pilato, Livorno 1965, lives and works in Tuscany. He works in the field of visual arts.
Since 1987 he has been working as a freelancer in the field of advertising graphics and since 1993 he has been developing the artistic production “Pesce Fresco”.
Collecting everything, everywhere, especially wood found on the beaches after sea storms, he tries with self-sacrifice and irony, full of graphic-pictorial experiences, to give life to works that often depict marine creatures. His assemblages are full of already lived objects that regain their lost dignity, enhancing their hidden aesthetics, enhancing it in the assemblage of an abyssal fish or a white whale.
For a few years, in addition to participating in the activities of various local artistic associations, he has undertaken collaborations with artists in the creation of installations on an urban scale which are also assemblages of ‘waste’ objects.
His work is made of research, of intuition, where sometimes instinct prevails and sometimes rationality, a legacy of his experiences as a designer. However, everything evolves in the pleasure of manual work, full of extemporaneous solutions but also of acquired method, continually seeking new stimuli.

His Art is a contribution to our planet Earth salvation and saving, by reducing wastes and, of course, CO2 emissions.
